A castle in Scotland. An ageing baron suffering from insomnia is worried that he is going to mess up the lecture he has to give on different methods of falling asleep. Goldberg, his servant and a keen musician, plays the piano to help him find the sleep which eludes him. Laura, his wife, meets an attractive young man on the train. He is going to be reunited with the father he has never known - who will turn out to be the baron.
